Gorgeous oval silver and goldwash granulated pendant with red glass insert, from Turkmenistan, serves as central focus to a necklace of deep red old glass beads from Nagaland, a remote area east of India. On either side of the pendant are newish-ly made silver and goldwash beads, also from Turkmenistan.
The bead atop the pendant is a circa 1800’s Venetian millefiori??glass trade bead, made in Murano, a Venetian island. These beads were traded to Africa from the 1600’s to early 1900’s. It’s protected on either side by a sliver of old vinyl, called vulcanite, from old records!
Closes with a sterling silver toggle clasp.

As with all my creations, this is a unique, individual, one off that took me hours and hours to get just right. I collect all my components by scrabbling in souks and hessian bags and dusty shops for the most unique treasures my dealers can part with. All my pieces have little dings, dents, and signs of wear from their global journeys and age, which add to their charm. You will be the new custodian of a piece of wearable art, that has its own story. Imagine if these beads could speak.
