A Bedouin Yemen Labbeh with Hexagram design in high silver. What a remarkable, interesting Yemen bridal dowry piece this is. Highly collectible, very unusual, the stuff of study and research.

Sturdy, lush, with wonderful silver granulation work. The coral is gorgeous, and pretty much match; all the pendants are soldered on so none have been recently added as a repair. The chain at the rear is also Yemen. But most intriguing of all is the central connector which has a type of tap or bird, attached to a ring. Who keeps these secrets? I’ve also included some photographs which show this particular design as being very collectible; the photos are really old, but how amazing to have this information, anyway.
All these pieces have had journeys across deserts, and continents. They have been used as dowry for weddings, have been traded in hard times and have had pieces added or removed depending on what happened at that time in the owner’s life. So they all have dings, and dents, and bits rubbed off and bits added on. They all add to the story, and to the authenticity of what you will own.
