Description
A Tibetan Silver Signature Seal or Chop from Tibet, as big as my hand. In great condition.
It has a heavy low grade silver finish that, though I haven’t ever polished it, will buff up to a great shine if that’s what you’d like. It has images of four different Buddhas on the sides, cast in a resin material, and the original leather cord. Please check photographs carefully, they are a very important part of the description.
A seal, in an East Asian context, is a general name for printing stamps and impressions that are used instead of signatures in personal documents, office paperwork, contracts, art, or any item requiring acknowledgement or authorship. Tibetan seals are typically made of differing materials and are typically used with red ink or cinnabar paste.
Weight: 245g
Size: See photo. 5 inches/13cm tall x 1.5 inches/4cms wide
All these pieces have had journeys across deserts, and continents. They have been used as dowry for weddings, have been traded in hard times and have had pieces added or removed depending on what happened at that time in the owner’s life. So they all have dings, and dents, and bits rubbed off and bits added on. They all add to the story, and to the authenticity of what you will own.
