Roman Glass Turquoise Coral Lapis Necklace N634

“TABRIZ”

Six strands of turquoise (the beads are the size of an ant’s head) from Afghanistan, mixed with washed gold beads, Roman glass fragments, coral, lapis and Roman glass bracelet fragments create this light and lovely necklace. I got the idea for the style from ancient tomb mummy paintings from 200 BCE.  This necklace feels as if it’s floating – it weighs so little. Making this treasure was a time consuming labour of love.  I conceptualised it from a tomb painting of an Egyptian mummy.
