This truly splendid assortment of ancient Himalayan crystal quartz beads dates to about 200AD – Egyptian and Roman times.  Mixed with gold washed spacers and clasp. The auction house Christies will give you an idea of the real value of beads like these. I was lucky to get them from my beloved Afghan dealers when I still could. A wearable treasure, dense with history.  These are in the shape of cats, which are so feared, respected and revered by the ancients.  Mythology has it that cats were buried with their owners to ensure a safe passage to the afterlife;  beads like these are impossible to find – look until your eyeballs hurt, you’ll never find others.  It’s a shortish piece, made so that every bead has its own visual power.  A true collector’s piece, museum quality.
