Afghanistan and Pakistan are the source of ancient, remarkable pieces, excavated glass and stones, intricate silver, lapis, ruby, sapphires and emeralds, rich in culture and design. The nomadic people of these two countries, of many different ethnic groups,  frequently criss-crossed so there are many design and material similarities. Roman Glass also hails from this region. With the ongoing problems in Afghanistan, now is the time to protect the heritage of this endangered region.
